The lovely village of Old Hunstanton, dating back to the 13th century, marks the start of the wonderful North Norfolk coast, much of it an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The harbours, beaches, marshes and quaint villages bordering the Wash are delightful places to visit, while the inland villages and Georgian market towns such as nearby Burnham Market and Holt have a wealth of individual shops and restaurants to enjoy.

There are many great restaurants and gastro pubs in the surrounding area. The Michelin starred Neptune Inn two minutes walk from Lavender Cottage, The Lodge Hotel virtually next door, Titchwell Manor and Eating Rooms at Titchwell, the Ship Inn at Brancaster, the White Horse at Brancaster Staithe, and Hoste Arms in Burnham Market to name just a few! The beach cafe at Old Hunstanton, the Brancaster Beach Kiosk, the Burnham Deepdale Cafe are all brilliant for a cup of tea and sandwiches or light lunches - often using the best of local and seasonal ingredients.

The attractions of Holkham Hall and its famous beach, the stunning walled gardens at Houghton Hall and its Soldier Museum, and the grounds and house of Sandringham are all close by. Snettisham Park, a working farm with a Deer Safari and friendly farm animals is just up the road and Bircham Windmill with its working mill and bakery and the brilliant Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Gardens are great destinations for all the family.

For golfing enthusiasts there are two well-known golf courses nearby –the lovely links course of Old Hunstanton is just down the road and The Royal West-Norfolk at Brancaster is only a few miles away. Watersports of all sorts are of course a great attraction to all, with windsurfing and sailing schools, boat trips and charters available. At Holme, Titchwell and Snettisham there areN RSPB ature Reserves offering excellent bird watching and are open all year.
